Pumpkins

About 3 months or so ago Mike and Ryan planted pumpkin seeds in a pot outside. Mike figured that they would never grow but did it anyways. To our surprise about a week after planting them we got spouts. So mike transplanted them and put them in two different spots in our backyard. Now mind you, he had to types, giant and regular size pumpkins. Well went you plant these with a 2 year old the seeds get mixed up. So Mike had no clue which was which when he planted them.
Well these things have taken off. They grow faster that weeds do. I guess when they start growing you have to get rid of the ones that don't look as good and only keep 1-2 plants. That way they will thrive the most. Otherwise they kill each other. So after 3 months we have about 6 pumpkins growing. About 3 weeks ago we noticed that we were getting a bunch of really pretty flowers growing....we thought....Um no. We learned that where ever there is a flower a pumpkin will grow....oh no we might have a pumpkin patch starting grow now!!

This picture doesn't do justice. It is about 12 feet long and the leaves are about 8-12 inches in diameter. This is our giant pumpkins.
This one is a bit smaller. It is about about 5 feet long and the leaves are much smaller.

Here is one of the pumpkins. It is about he size of an apple right now. I will keep you posted on the growth. Mike's goal is to have a pumpkin big enough he needs a tractor to get it out.
